Colorful Knit Coasters

Materials

• Yarn: 100% cotton yarn in pink, green, and blue (approximately 50 yards of each color)
• Knitting needles: US size 8 (5 mm)
• Tapestry needle: for weaving in ends
• Scissors

Gauge

18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in garter stitch.

Abbreviations

• K: Knit
• P: Purl
• CO: Cast On
• BO: Bind Off

Instructions

1. CO 30 stitches using the pink yarn. This will create the foundation for your coaster.
2. Row 1 - 6: Knit every stitch (Garter Stitch). Continue until you have 6 rows of pink. This will form the first section of the coaster.
3. Change to green yarn: Without cutting the pink yarn, join the green yarn at the start of the next row.
4. Row 7 - 12: Knit every stitch with the green yarn. This will be the second section of your coaster.
5. Change to blue yarn: Again, join the blue yarn at the start of the next row, leaving the green yarn attached.
6. Row 13 - 18: Knit every stitch with the blue yarn. This finishes the third section of your intended coaster.
7. BO all stitches: Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail for weaving in later. Pull the yarn through the last stitch to secure it.
8. Weave in ends: Using the tapestry needle, weave in the loose ends from each color change into the back of the coaster to hide them away, ensuring a polished look.
9. Block your coasters: Lightly steam or wet block the coasters to help shape them and even out the stitches if desired.

Final Measurement

Each coaster should measure approximately 4 inches by 4 inches square once completed.
