This Chevron Blanket combines a lovely mix of colors and texture to create a stunning piece perfect for cuddling or decorating.
Materials:
- Worsted weight yarn in the following colors:
- Pink (light and dark shades)
- Cream
- Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Gauge:
Each chevron segment measures approximately 4 inches wide and 3 inches tall. 8 stitches and 5 rows = 4 inches in double crochet.
Abbreviations:
- ch - chain
- dc - double crochet
- sk - skip
- st(s) - stitch(es)
- sl st - slip stitch
Instructions:
Starting the Blanket:
- Begin by making a foundation chain of 102 ch. This will create the base of your blanket.
Row 1:
- In the 4th ch from the hook, make 1 dc.
- Continue making 1 dc in each of the next 2 ch (total 3 dc).
- Once you have 3 dc, ch 2 (this creates a point).
- Make 3 dc in the same chain space.
- Sk 2 ch from the chain, and in the next ch, make 1 dc until you have 3 dc.
- Repeat the increase by making 2 ch and 3 dc in the same space. Your first chevron is now complete!
- Continue this pattern across the row until you reach the end, making sure to dc into the last ch.
Row 2:
- Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc). Turn your work.
- In the next dc, make 1 dc, then make the point of the chevron (ch 2, 3 dc) in between the 3 dc groups from Row 1.
- Repeat until the end of the row, adding a dc in the last stitch.
Row 3:
- Change to your next color (light pink). Ch 3 to start.
- Continue following the same pattern of dc and chevrons, alternating colors every two rows.
Continue the Pattern:
- Repeat the Row 2 and Row 3 until your blanket reaches your desired length, or until you have at least 40 rows.
Finishing Up:
- Once you reach your desired length, finish with a row of sl st to create a decorative edge.
- Fasten off your yarn and weave in any loose ends with a tapestry needle.
