Crochet Warm Faux Fur Earflap Hat with Pom Poms Free Pattern
Stay cozy with this charming earflap hat featuring luxurious faux fur detailing. Perfect for adding a playful touch to your winter wardrobe!
Materials Needed:
- Size H, 5.00 mm crochet hook
- Medium weight (size 4) yarn in beige
- Faux fur yarn in brown
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Stitches Used:
- Chain (ch)
- Slip stitch (sl st)
- Single crochet (sc)
- Double crochet (dc)
Pattern Instructions:
Hat Body:
- Start with a magic circle using beige yarn. Work 10 dc into the circle. Join with a sl st to the first dc. (10 dc)
- Round 2: Ch 2 (counts as dc here and throughout), 2 dc in each st around, join with sl st. (20 dc)
- Round 3: Ch 2, *1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st*; repeat from * to * around, join with sl st. (30 dc)
- Round 4: Ch 2, *1 dc in next 2 st, 2 dc in next st*; repeat from * to * around, join with sl st. (40 dc)
- Round 5: Ch 2, *1 dc in next 3 st, 2 dc in next st*; repeat from * to * around, join with sl st. (50 dc)
- Continue increasing in this manner until you reach desired width for head circumference, usually up to 60 dc for an adult size.
- Work rounds of dc without increasing until the desired height is reached.
Earflaps (Make 2):
- With beige yarn, ch 12.
- Row 1: Dc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across. Turn. (10 dc)
- Row 2: Ch 2, dc across. Turn. (Repeat this row for 3 more rows.)
- Row 5: Ch 2, dc2tog, dc to last 2 sts, dc2tog. Turn. (8 dc)
- Continue decreasing in this manner until 2 dc remain. Fasten off.
- Sew earflaps to bottom sides of the hat.
Faux Fur Trim:
- Attach faux fur yarn to the edges of the hat and earflaps.
- Single crochet around the hat and earflaps to add the fur trim.
- Fasten off and weave in all ends.
Pom Poms:
- Using faux fur yarn, create two pom poms around 3 inches in diameter.
- Attach one pom pom to the top of the hat, and the others to the ends of braided ties.
Ties:
- Cut 3 strands of yarn about 24 inches long.
- Braid the strands together, knotting at each end.
- Attach ties securely to the tips of the earflaps.
