  4. Round 3:
    Slip stitch into the next ch-2 space. Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 2 dc in same sp. Ch 2, *3 dc in next ch-2 space, ch 2; repeat from * around. Join with a sl st to top of ch-3. (Total of 6 groups of 3 dc).
  5. Round 4:
    In each ch-2 space, work the following: (1 dc, ch 5, 1 dc). This will add a scalloped edge. Join with a sl st to the top of the first dc.
  6. Round 5:
    In each ch-5 space, work (1 dc, ch 2, 1 dc)*. This adds more structure to the scallops. Join as before.
  7. Round 6:
    For the final round, repeat the scalloping by working (1 dc, ch 5, 1 dc) in each ch-2 space.
  8. Finishing:
    Cut the thread leaving a long tail, pull it through the last loop and tighten. Weave in all ends using a tapestry needle.
  9. Blocking (optional):
    To give your doily a crisp finish, you can block it by wetting it and pinning down to a blocking board in the desired shape.
