Festive Snowflake Tissue Box Cover Free Pattern
Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight yarn (approximately 150-170 yards) in white and blue
- Crochet hook size 6 mm (J)
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
- Stitch markers (optional)
Gauge:
12 stitches and 14 rows = 4 inches in double crochet
Finished Size:
Fits a standard rectangular tissue box (9" x 4.5" x 4.5")
Special Stitches:
Magic Ring: Used to start the snowflake motifs.
Double Crochet (dc): Yarn over, insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull through, yarn over, pull through two loops, yarn over, pull through remaining two loops.
Instructions:
Main Body:
Round 1: Using the blue yarn, make a magic ring. Chain 2 (counts as first dc), work 11 dc into the ring. Pull the ring tight and join with a slip stitch to the top of the first dc. (12 dc) Round 2: Chain 2, dc in the same stitch, 2 dc in each stitch around, join with a slip stitch. (24 dc) Round 3: Chain 2, *dc in next stitch, 2 dc in the next stitch,* repeat from * to * around, join. (36 dc) Rounds 4-12: Continue working in rounds in dc until the piece measures approximately 6 inches in height. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Snowflake Appliqué:
Using the white yarn, make a magic ring. Chain 3 (counts as first dc), then work 5 dc into the ring. Pull tight and join with a slip stitch. (6 dc) Round 1: Chain 3, *dc in next stitch, chain 2, slip stitch in the same stitch for a petal,* repeat around to create 6 petals. Join and fasten off.
Assembly:
Attach the snowflake appliqué to the front of the tissue box cover. Weave in all ends neatly.
