Materials Needed:
- Medium worsted weight yarn (size 4), approx. 250 yards
- 7/8" wide ribbon, 62" long
- Size H/8 (5mm) crochet hook
- Tapestry needle
Gauge:
12 dc and 7 rows = 4 inches
Finished Size:
Approx. 7.5" wide and 30" long before folding
Instructions:
- Foundation Row: Chain 91.
- Row 1: Dc in the 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across. Turn. (89 dc)
- Rows 2-6: Ch 2 (counts as first dc here and throughout), dc in each stitch across. Turn.
- Row 7: Ch 2, dc in first 4 stitches, *ch 1, skip 1 stitch, dc in next stitch*; repeat from * to * across, ending with dc in last 4 stitches. Turn.
- Row 8: Ch 2, dc in each dc and ch-1 space across. Turn.
- Rows 9-14: Repeat Row 2.
- Fasten off and weave in ends using tapestry needle.
Finishing:
Weave ribbon through the spaces created in Row 7 and tie a bow on the front side.
Notes:
This pattern can be adjusted for a longer or shorter cowl by increasing or decreasing the number of foundation chains. Ensure the total stitch count is an odd number for the ribbon lacing to work smoothly.
