Materials
- Worsted weight yarn: Cream, Pink, and Green
- Crochet hook size H (5.0 mm)
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Abbreviations
- ch: chain
- sc: single crochet
- hdc: half double crochet
- dc: double crochet
- tr: treble crochet
- sl st: slip stitch
Pattern
Main Afghan Body
Base: With cream yarn, ch 150 (or desired length for afghan), turn.
Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and each ch across, turn. (147 dc)
Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in each dc across, turn.
Rows 3-10: Repeat Row 2.
Floral Motif
Center: With pink yarn, form a magic ring.
Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 11 dc in ring, sl st to top of ch-3 to join. (12 dc)
Round 2: Ch 1, sc in same st, *(hdc, 3 dc, hdc) in next st, sc in next st; repeat from * around, sl st to first sc. Fasten off pink yarn.
Leaves (Make 2 per Flower)
With green yarn, ch 8.
- Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next, dc in next 4 ch, hdc in next, sc in last ch, turn.
- Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Fasten off.
Assembling the Blanket
- Evenly space and attach floral motifs across the body of the afghan.
- Sew leaf pairs around each flower using a tapestry needle.
- Repeat with each flower motif.
Border
With pink yarn, sc around the entire afghan, placing 3 sc in each corner. On the next round, work a scallop border by using *(sc, skip 1 st, 5 dc in next st, skip 1 st)* around. Fasten off and weave in ends.
