[M, L, XL] to fit foot lengths 8-9 [9-10, 10-11, 11-12] inches. Follow the numbers in brackets for your desired size.

Part 1: The Sole (Make 2 per slipper)

Note: You will make two sole pieces per slipper (four total for a pair) to create a thick, cushioned base. The sole is worked in continuous rounds—do not join at the end of each round unless specified.

Rnd 1: Ch 10 [12, 14, 16]. Work 2 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, sc in the next 7 [9, 11, 13] ch, 3 sc in the last ch. Now, working on the opposite side of the foundation chain, sc in the next 7 [9, 11, 13] ch, and 1 sc in the first ch (where you started). Total: 20 [24, 28, 32] sts.

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each of the next 2 sts, sc in the next 7 [9, 11, 13] sts, 2 sc in each of the next 3 sts, sc in the next 7 [9, 11, 13] sts, 2 sc in the last st. Total: 26 [30, 34, 38] sts.

Rnd 3: *2 sc in the next st, sc in the next st* repeat 2 times, sc in the next 7 [9, 11, 13] sts, *2 sc in the next st, sc in the next st* repeat 3 times, sc in the next 7 [9, 11, 13] sts, 2 sc in the last st. Total: 32 [36, 40, 44] sts.

Rnd 4: Work even in sc (1 sc in each st around). Total: 32 [36, 40, 44] sts. Fasten off and weave in the end.

Repeat to make a second sole piece for the first slipper. Then, make two more sole pieces for the second slipper. You will have four sole pieces total.

Part 2: The Upper (Worked Back and Forth in Rows)

The upper is worked starting from the toe end of the sole. You will only work across the toe area, leaving the rest of the sole open for the foot.

Row 1: Attach yarn with a sl st to the center toe stitch of the sole. Ch 1, sc in the same st, sc in the next 15 [17, 19, 21] sts (working across the toe area only). Turn. Total: 16 [18, 20, 22] sts.

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in the first st, *hdc in the next st, dc in the next st, sc in the next st* repeat across, ending with sc in the last st. Turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in the first st, *dc in the next st, hdc in the next st, sc in the next st* repeat across, ending with sc in the last st. Turn.

Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until the upper measures 4 [4.5, 5, 5.5] inches from the toe, ending with a Row 2 repeat. Do not fasten off. You will continue directly into the heel and ankle section.

Part 3: Heel and Ankle

Now you will work in rounds around the entire opening of the slipper, which includes the sole and the upper. This will create the ankle cuff.

Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc evenly around the opening, working 1 sc in each row-end and each stitch. Join with a sl st to the first sc. Total: approximately 40 [44, 48, 52]
